Hypnosis is a state of mind in which the person undergoing the hypnosis fells into a trance like state, a condition that resembles to sleep. This sleep like state of mind can be induced in a person by a hypnotist. The subject or the person who fell in a hypnotic sleep will normally accept the suggestions made by the hypnotist.
The different categories of hypnosis include self hypnosis, waking hypnosis, mass application and indirect application. Self hypnosis is a process by which a person hypnotizes himself with an object to improve his level of confidence or to change some behavioral problems he suffers. Waking hypnosis does not require trance state of mind.
This technique of making a person to accept the positive suggestion made by a third party is often used in medical purposes to improve the behavior of the persons or to relieve a person from pain. It is also used by stage performers to amuse people who witness a stage show. The person who performs a stage show making use of the techniques of hypnosis is known as stage hypnotist. He should first give the audience a few exercises to perform with an intention to keep them interested in what he does on the stage. An expert hypnotist who performs on stage will be able to recognize people who appear trusting, extroverted and ready to participate in the show. A stage hypnotist should also have the ability locate the individuals who are looking for an opportunity to perform before an audience. Such persons will always be a good participant in stage hypnosis. The desire to be the centre of attraction in these persons will compel their inner sense to overcome the fear and reasoning by obeying the suggestions and commands come from him.
